Originally established as a for-profit consulting firm, Guthrie Consulting Inc. (GCI) was certified by the Department of Transportation in 2011 as an Underutilized Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (UDBE). After discovering the numerous small business barriers to government contracting, GCI decided to forfeit its UDBE certification in 2013 and establish itself as a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization to assist with registrations, disadvantaged certifications and distribution of subcontracting opportunities.

Angie McDaniel is the founder and Director of Programs for the organization. She brings 20 years of construction industry knowledge to the program. Her background is in electro-mechanical repair and general contracting business development in both private and public sectors. Her interest in government contracting began in 2009 during the country’s economic downturn. Angie specializes in public sector marketing, is a California notary public and enjoys studying public contract law in her spare time. She commits more than 40 hours a week to the organization and its outreach program.
